Miley Cyrus’s Bangerz Tour Hit Dublin

Whether you love her or hate her, you can’t ignore her. She’s one of the most talked about pop stars of 2014 and she certainly knows exactly what she has to do to grab your attention!

Last night, 20th of May, I headed along to see Miley Cyrus as she was set to take the stage of Dublin’s O2 Arena. I knew right well what I was going to witness on stage and was fully prepared for the ‘twerking’ and the ‘tongue action’ and skimpy outfits. Miley is a performer and she done exactly that. People are often to quick to judge people in the music industry. Nowadays, musicians have to carry out controversial performances and do outrageous things to stay in the limelight. Everyone seems to forget Miley is just 21 years old and she is doing exactly what most young girls do, having fun and living her life. If you went to any college throughout Ireland on a night out, you’d seen many girls do the same things, if not worse! Downside is, everything in Miley’s life is under scrutiny by the public and media.  There were one or two times on stage last night that I saw that a young girl having fun.

Miley kicked off the show with a huge picture of herself on the screen and a slide in the shape of a tongue emerged from the screen and Miley made her extravagant entrance.

She performed a mixture of songs, 14 of which are from her BANGERZ album, an acoustic set which included covers of Summertime Sadness, Jolene and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out but only opted to perform 2 of her old songs, Can’t Be Tamed and Party In The USA.

Miley changed outfits at 7 times and all bar one were based around leotards. While the media slate Miley for not having respect for herself with her revealing clothes, if you actually looked closely to the star’s outfits last night, you could visibly see Miley was wearing a skin tone body suit to respect her modesty. Below are some of the pictures I took last night.

Miley felt so comfortable on stage last night and it beamed throughout the show. She certainly didn’t come across fake or over-rehearsed. She interacted with fans and it was so natural. Just before she sang her hit ‘Wrecking Ball‘, the 21 year old paused, when she was told not to talk but couldn’t help herself and commented on how the Irish started a chant while she was getting dressed under the stage and made the crowd re do the ‘Woo Woo Woooo’ chant and danced away to herself. She even said that ‘That Sh*t is for sure gonna be on my next album you motherf*ckers!!’

The media and public need to start paying more attention to Miley’s voice as she is so talented vocally. This was highlighted especially when she done her acoustic set during the middle of the show. Below are some of the videos I took last night during the show. (I will add more once they’ve uploaded to Youtube, joys of living in the countryside!)

What shocked me the most last night though was the swarm of young girls absolutely hammered averaging from 13 to 16  dressed in less clothes than Miley herself. With the majority of the world slamming Miley for her choice in clothes or lack of clothes she wears, I was gobsmacked when I arrived at the O2 to see so many girls with SO much flesh on show. Also, why pay €80+ to attend a concert if you are going to get that drunk, not remember it and potentially ruin the night for others. I’m not saying having a few drinks at a concert is wrong, I’ve done it. It was the fact that these girls were so out of it and were an embarrassment to themselves. In my opinion, I go to a concert to see the artist live, embrace the music and enjoy it. The amount of girls that bumped into me while I was trying to enjoy the concert is ridiculous, one almost hurt my mother when she fell onto her because she was so drunk she couldn’t hold herself up.  I felt so angry when I saw a vast majority of people running to the bar every 5 minutes while Miley was on stage. To me, that was the height of ignorance to Miley. You might as well went to a pub or club if all you cared about was the drink! Now I know people will think I am being two faced here but there is a difference in having fun and being plain stupid. There is a time and place to be drunk, and personally, a concert is not one of them.

Aside from that negative point, Miley certainly put on an entertaining show, maybe not suitable for all ages but hey, even Beyonce is provocative at times! I read somewhere today that ‘Hannah Montana is truly dead’, and that person is right, people need to move on from that phase. Miley Cyrus,as we know her now. is here to stay for a long time yet.

5 Seconds of Summer.

Before you all get carried away thinking I’m talking about Irish summers, I’m not. I am talking about my favourite band, 5 Seconds of Summer. Now I guess you are now asking ‘Who the hell are they?’

5 Seconds of Summer are an Australian (and 1/4 New Zealand because of Calum) band who have taken the music world by storm. The young band is made up of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood. It all started back in December 2011, when the boys started uploading home videos to Youtube and pleading to their small group of fans to ‘make them famous‘! They released their first Ep Unplugged in June 2012 and it went in at number 3 in the Australian iTunes chart but failed to chart in the official music chart. 5SOS soon became known worldwide as one of their fans just happened to be One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and he shared their single Gotta Get Out on twitter and the Youtube views on escalated quickly for the 5SOS boys . They released a second EP in December 2012 called Somewhere New and their success began to grow even bigger. Louis Tomlinson then managed to get the 5SOS boys to be 1D’s opening act on their Take Me Home tour in 2013.

Here is an acoustic version of their single Gotta Get Out, the song Louis shared on twitter.

The song that made them receive fans worldwide was Heartbreak Girl which features on their EP Somewhere New. To date, the video has over 9 million views on Youtube.

Now, before you start thinking ‘oh 5 Seconds of Summer must be a boyband if they toured with 1D!’ Nope, you’re wrong! Don’t make the mistake of  classing 5SOS as a boyband, they are a pop rock band. The Aussie boys have worked with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, James Bourne from Busted, McFly and Joel and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte.

On February 5th 2014, 5SOS released their latest single She Looks So Perfect worldwide on iTunes for pre-order and immediately, it went in at the number one spot in over 35 countries.

On Friday 28th of March, the boys reached the number 1 spot in Ireland’s official music charts.

On Saturday 29th of March, the boys received their first ever official number one in Australia.

On Sunday 30th of March, 5SOS were announced the official UK Number 1 single.

Today, the 1st of April, 5SOS released She Looks So Perfect in America and it went in at number one on the iTunes charts so I expect it to reach the number one spot in the official American charts soon.

For me, being a huge fan since June 2012, this success is so surreal! I can’t imagine how the boys themselves must feel.

One thing that is obvious, 5 Seconds of Summer are very grateful to their fans for making them so successful, thanking them daily on their twitter accounts. I’ve been lucky enough to meet the guys and they are genuinely nice guys and appreciated the fact I had travelled to see them live.

So I’d keep an eye on 5 Seconds of Summer, they are my ones to watch for 2014.

Below is the video for their single She Looks So Perfect and it is such a catchy song, I know it will be that song you can not get out of your head for days after 😛

Some days stay gold forever..

Today is kind of a sad day for me. Later today, I say goodbye to one of my favourite bands, The Wanted, as they arrive in Dublin on their Farewell Tour.

I know, some of you (okay all of you!) have probably rolled you’re eyes at that last sentence.
But The Wanted played a huge part in my life.
I’ve met some of my best friends and I’ve had some incredible memories because of them!

It all began back in Summer 2010, when I stumbled a crossed a very baby faced looking band on YouTube with their first single All Time Low. It wasn’t until Summer 2011, when I met the boys for thee first time, that I released how much of an impact they’ve made on my life.

In March 2012, I met the boys again when I was going through a really hard time and they were the sweetest boys ever! They gave me strength to keep going. (Cheesy I know!)

And today, I get to meet them as a band one last time. I might just ask them how do you actually get up from an All Time Low.. (Get it? I’m so hilarious.. Okay I know I’m not but laugh anyway!)

Saying goodbye is never an easy thing to do, but hopefully it’s not forever.

I’m kind of excited too. My friend Sophie met Nathan today and got me a video and it’s made me excited to see my fave again! (I shall post the video on my Instagram later and you can find the link to that on my page somewhere..)

One thing is for sure, I will never forget the memories I have with The Wanted and the amazing friends I’ve made through them (well unless I lose my memory) because ‘Some days stay Gold Forever..’ ❤

End of an Era, end of BOD.

Saturday the 15th of March 2014 is going to be a date every Irish man and woman will never forget! Not only did we win the Six Nations Championship in Paris, but we had to bid a sad farewell to the one and only, Brian O’Driscoll.

15 years ago, Brian made his first appearance for Ireland in Paris and it was quite ironic how his last was to be there too. Throughout his 141 caps for Ireland, he has played some unforgettable rugby, taken many of belts, scored some incredible tries, deservedly won Man of The Match on several occasions and seen many heartbreaking days.

One thing for sure, the number 13 jersey will never be the same! He was a hero for our nation. He made every man, woman and child proud to be Irish on many occasion.

We wouldn’t of won the Six Nations with out the one and only BOD. He was the backbone of that Irish squad, being involved in 3 of the tries we scored on that very day. It’s safe to say their wasn’t a dry eye in the country when Brian said his last few words in the precious number 13 jersey.

There’s only one thing left to say and that is: Thank you Brian!

Forget the Oscar selfie, this is what you call a selfie! What a good looking bunch of lads the Ireland team are 😉
