My Highlights of 2014!

2014 has been one rollercoaster ride! It’s been a bit of a crappy year for me and my family to say the least but throughout the sadness and bad news, I have had some of the best times of my life this year! Below I want to share some of my favourite highlights of 2014 (in no particular order!)

Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

The Commonwealth Games took place in August in Glasgow. It has been on my bucket list for years to attend them and when the opportunity arose that I could go, I grabbed it with both hands (and grabbed my mother too!) and headed to Scotland.

One of the main reasons I wanted to go was to see Tom Daley dive. Tom was diving in the Men’s Individual 10m Platform Diving competition on the 2nd of August and up until 9am that morning I hadn’t got a ticket, I was devastated, even though I did see him on the Thursday night when I went to see Jack Laugher dive in the 3m Men’s Springboard competition,  I wanted to see him dive. But luck was on my side and at 9:58am on the 2nd of August, I got the last ticket to see Tom Daley dive that evening in the Final and I saw him win Gold. I shook with happiness when I got the ticket!

As I mentioned earlier on, I got to see one of my other favourite divers, Jack Laugher dive in the Men’s 3M Springboard Final on Thursday 31st of August and I witnessed him win Silver.  Luck was on my side again, as when I was at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, I got to met him. He ran over to me after I called his name so many times like I was Rose calling Jack in the titanic! I was extremley happy. My trip to Glasgow was a very successful one. A few more things off the bucket list 😉

Paris

One of my best friends lives in Lyon, France and she turned 21 this year and I wanted to surprise her with an unforgettable birthday present. So I secretly flew over to Lyon, even though she found out on that day I was arriving, and surprised her. But what she didn’t know was that I had got two standing tickets to see One Direction in Stade de France in Paris on the following Friday! So on the 19th of June, we carpooled to Paris, one of the longest but most beautiful and exciting road trips ever, and at midnight we arrived in Paris! We got up early the next morning and done a bit of site seeing before the concert! We saw the Arc de Triomphe and had breakfast in a cute cafe on the Champs Elysees.

Melo and me at the Arc de Troimphe.

After that, we took the Metro and went to the Eiffel Tower! It was such a beautiful day and the view was beautiful. Melo and I have this thing were we like to take cool photos in iconic places and what better place to do this than the Eiffel Tower!

5 Seconds of Summer in London

On March 3rd, I got to see 5 Seconds of Summer in Shepherd’s Bush in London with my 5SOS buddy Giana and some other girls I became friends with through the boys!

WIth Giana, Deanna and Zoe at Sheperd's Bush.

We queued from 9am that morning, it rained and was so cold. The things we do for those 4 Aussie babes!! The venue is a intimate venue with a capacity of 2,000 people. We were standing, hence why we were queuing so early. We ended up being front row and that was an amazing experience. Every time I see 5 Seconds of Summer live, they just get better and better. I’ve been to over 60 plus concerts and this was up there in my top ten concerts. It was one of those concerts where you just got lost in the moment, in the music. Being there with friends I had made through the boys was even better. Giana and I have this tradition and it’s #GettingDrunkAt5SOS and we have so much fun playing games in the queue! I find it amazing how some of my good friendships are formed because of bands! Looking forward to seeing Giana in London at 5SOS next June 😉

Turning 21

On the 3rd of November, I turned 21. 21 years old. What a milestone to hit. I had my dream 21st Birthday party on the 31st of October, in Great Gatsby style! It was one of the best nights of my life and I got to celebrate it with all my closest friends and family. I will never forget that night (even though I did drink a lot!) because I finally felt happy, within myself and in my life. At one part of the night, I stood alone with the bottle of champagne the pub gave me for my birthday on the dance floor and looked around and just smiled. I had never been more happier in my life.

Meeting Shane O’Donnell

In 2013, Davy Fitz asked a certain 19 year old man to play in the All Ireland Hurling Final Replay and wanted him to do one thing and one thing only – score goals! That man certain done that! Shane O’Donnell scored 3-3 in the replay and Clare won the All Ireland! Shane O’Donnell became the Niall Horan of GAA that day! He became my favourite hurler that day too, purely because of his hurling skills.. Nothing to do with his looks at all! 😛

3rd night of Where We Are Tour in Croke Park

I was privileged enough to go see One Direction on their Where We Are Tour in Croke Park 3 times. On the Sunday, I got a standing ticket and went with my friends Flozey and Susan (plus her sister Janet!). The two previous nights were incredible but the 3rd and final night was something special. I don’t exactly know why it was more special than the other two, but it was the best show of the weekend. I got some incredible photos of the boys and Harry even waved at me (The video is on my Instagram!).

How big 5 Seconds Of Summer Became

2014 was the year of 5 Seconds of Summer. They were the breakthrough artist of the year and took the world by storm. With two number one singles, with ‘She Looks So Perfect’ and ‘Don’t Stop’ in the UK and USA, and their debut album reaching number one in the USA. The boys seem to be a huge success in Ireland also, with both ‘She Looks So Prefect’ and ‘Don’t Stop’ reaching number one here and ‘Amnesia’ and ‘Good Girls’ both charting in the top 20 singles and the album also debuting at number one. I’m incredibly proud of these boys and look forward to what 2015 has in store for them.

Being front row at Cody Simpson and having Jackson Harris sing to me

On July 4th, I saw Cody Simpson in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin. Thanks to my friends Sophie and Jade, I had a front row ticket to the show. For his support act, he had Jackson Harris, an American singer. One thing I certainly haven’t forgotten is Jackson singing to me. I barely knew of him before the show but by the end of his set, he truly won me over. When Jackson was singing his song Right Kind of Wrong, he spotted me singing along to the chorus and of course I got all shy and embarrassed, which made him come over to right in front of me, he knelt down, held eye contact with me and smiled while sang to me and even held my hand. I got so hot and bothered that my friends Jade and Sophie had to fan me down when he stopped singing to me. My favourite thing about Cody’s concert (apart from Jackson singing to me!) was that it was an acoustic concert.  I wrote a blog about the concert so check that out!

Seeing Demi Lovato live in concert (FINALLY!)

For my 21st Birthday my best friend Sarah Coghlan ( she has an INCREDIBLE blog too, check it out!!) surprised me with a ticket to Enrique Iglesias’s concert in the 3 Arena on the 23rd of November. More importantly, Demi Lovato was Enrique’s support act. When I opened my card from her and saw the ticket, I was next to tears. I was shaking. She was making one of my ultimate dreams come. To this day, I still can’t thank her enough. When Demi came on stage that night, my heart stopped. I shooking and cried from the minute she came on stage. Demi has been a huge idol to me since 2010 or thereabouts. When she sang Skyscraper and Nightingale, I cried the whole way through both songs. I looked like such an idiot but I didn’t care. Nobody, not even Sarah (although she knows how much I adore Demi) knew how much that moment meant to me. I was so extremely happy. Nothing. I mean NOTHING, could of ruined that moment. I was with one of my best friends, who bought me that ticket, seeing my ultimate idol live. I still can’t believe it. Hearing my favourite song Neon Lights live was incredible. I never felt more alive than I did at that moment.

Meeting 4/5 of the Janoskians after sneaking into the Four Season’s Hotel

Jade and I snuck into the Four Season’s Hotel. Like I don’t know how we done it but we did. Thank god we did. We met Skip in a bathroom towel (love heart eyes emoji) and spoke to Jai properly and got him to follow me on Twitter. But we did get kicked out after that. We still managed to meet James and Luke outside. My favourite was finally meeting Luke, god I love him! He gave me a kiss on the cheek! Beau wouldn’t come out to meet us though 😦

The bathrooms inn the Four Seasons are so fancy, I had to take a selfie.

Elizabeth’s Sweet 16th

My darling Elizabeth turned 16 this year. Words don’t explain how much I love that girl. I can’t believe she is 16. I can’t imagine my life without her. She is such a beautiful, kind hearted, loving, special lady and I’m so proud to be her cousin. She makes be a better person, she makes me smile when I’m down and she gives me strength when I am weak. She is such a strong girl for everything she goes through and she never complains and is always with a smile! She has taught me to treasure the little things in life.

My Dad getting elected for the Central Council Delegate for Laois GAA County Board

On the 8th of December, my Dad got elected to be Central Council Delegate for Laois GAA and I couldn’t of been any prouder of him. My Dad had a very bad year in 2014 and this was the lift he needed. The spark that had been missing came back into my Dad. Once again he was the underdog and once again shocked everyone and beat off all competition. I don’t say it to him very often, but I am very proud of my Dad and all he has achieved. He works so hard and does so much for Laois GAA and it’s nice to see that people appreciate my father. So Dad, if Mam has told you about this or is showing you this, I told you you could do it. Once you believe in yourself, you can do anything. You know what you are talking about when it comes to GAA and you are the man for any GAA job in my eyes. Words don’t even describe how proud I am of you. I love you Daddy.

X Factor in November

As part of my 21st Birthday present, I got to go to Wembley to see the X Factor Studios and my favourite contestants. It is something I will never forget! I wrote a blog about it, if you want the full story! I got to meet Only The Young and 7/8 of Stereo Kicks. I also made a new friendship with Tania who has been incredible to me since.

Becoming even closer to Sarah, Aislin and Joe

Sarah, Joe and Aislin. I’d be lost without them. It is as simple as that. I love the 3 of them so much it hurts. They mean the world to me. 2014 has given me so many good memories with this trio. I could talk all day about them. But they know why they made my 2014. I Love you guys.

Memories Jar

Back in 2011/2012  when I was sick, I stumbled across a really cute Tumblr post about this idea of having a good memories jar of the year. My biggest fear is that I will forget important moments, big or small. This solves the problem! I write down the little moments that makes me smile and the incredible big moments I know I’ll never forget but want them in the jar! Then on New Years Eve (or the next day when you are dying from a hangover!), take out all the memories throughout the year and remember all the wonderful memories the year has brought you!

Some of my good memories from 2014

Some of my good memories from 2014

I started this in 2013 and when I put last year’s and this year’s jars beside each other and 2014 was filled at least 50% more! This is because I made sure that I done things that were on my bucket list and made sure I made the best of every opportunity that came my way!

My 2013 and 2014 jars!

My 2013 and 2014 jars!

It is such a simple thing to do, grab a jar, make it look pretty, cut up paper that will fit inside and have a pen near by and you are ready to fill your jar with your awesome memories!

Bring on 2015!

My Favourite Album of 2014!

My dear friend Joe nominated me to do this blog (Check out his blog!), and even though I hate him for putting me through the agony of picking my favourite album of 2014, I think it is such a good idea! Well done Joe 😉

The reason why I said it was agony of picking my favourite album is because this year has been an incredible year for some musicians, producing some top quality albums.  2014 was the year for newcomers and these newcomers certainly put their stamp on the music world. Sam Smith, who was announced the winner of the Brits 2014 Critics’ Choice award for 2014, released his debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’ in May this year. ‘Lay Me Down’ is my favourite track on his album. Ariana Grande’s second studio album ‘My Everything’ came out in August and established Ariana as a major force in the music industry. Without a doubt, ‘Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart’ is my favourite song , which was penned by One Direction’s Harry Styles. It’s been two years since Ella Henderson appeared on the UK X Factor and many critics had questioned if the two year gap would be a good decision for her career, but Ella proved them wrong with her debut album ‘Chapter One‘, with every song written or co-written by Ella herself. In the first week, her album went straight into number one, making Simon Cowell a very happy man! Remember her arena audition where she sang her own song that took everyone’s breath away? Well Ella recorded that beautiful song and put it on the album and ‘Missed’ is undeniably my favourite track of hers. The treasured artists of the music industry also made sure they were heard this year with their outstanding albums. Ed Sheeran released his highly anticipated second album ‘X’ in June, and to date, it has been the most streamed album on Spotify of 2014, with over 400 million streams. Apart from ‘Thinking Out Loud’, my favourite song is ‘Tenerife Sea’. One of my queens Jessie J dropped her third studio album ‘Sweet Talker’. The leading single of the album, ‘Bang Bang’, made Jessie world renowned and is her most successful single to date. The success of this hit single made her album a chart topping album. Although ‘Bang Bang’ is the tune that has me running to the dance floor, my stand out song on the album is ‘Sweet Talker’. Many would say that 2014 was the year of Taylor Swift and her fifth studio album, ‘1989‘. This album is her first official pop album, having been a country-pop crossover artist on her previous albums. The stats establish that Swift done right by making this album as it is the best selling album of 2014. I have two favourite songs from ‘1989‘, they are ‘Wildest Dreams’ and ‘Wonderland’.

One Direction’s fourth consecutive album ‘Four’ is an extremely close runner up to my favourite album of the year (I mean it, the only difference is like 0.01%). Personally, I believe ‘Four’ is their best album. Like many of the critics, I believe this album shows maturity (apart from ‘Act My Age’, but we ALL secretly love that tune!!) and growth for the band, with a more rockier sound. The boys wrote 9 of the songs on the album, and even got Ed Sheeran to pen another song for them. Cosmopolitan clearly agree with me as they have named it number eleven on the 20 Best Album’s for 2014 list! Once again, stats confirm that One Direction aren’t going to be disappearing any time soon, as the album went straight in at number one in over 100 countries!! The song that gets me feeling warm and fuzzy is ‘Night Changes’, it is such a beautiful song and shows off everyone’s vocals.

But my album of the year goes to the real breakthrough artists of the year, 5 Seconds of Summer! It was probably obvious I was going to chose them, I never shut up about them and have been promoting them for nearly 3 years to everyone! If you don’t already know, I adore these guys a crazy amount (I have travelled more times to see them live than any other band to date!). If you’ve been hiding under a rock and have no idea who they are or want to refresh your memory of who they are, check out my previous blog on them!

The Australian pop punk band (NOT A BOYBAND) released their self titled debut album  ‘5 Seconds of Summer’  in June and within one week of it’s release in America, it charted in the number one spot in the Billboard 200, selling over 260,000 copies. 5 Seconds of Summer proved they were to be taken seriously in the music industry and soon became one of the most sought after bands at all music award ceremonies such as the MTV Music Awards and the ARIA Awards, entitling them to perform in front of some of the mega stars in the music industry. But it was them touring with One Direction on their tours ‘Take Me Home’ in 2013 and ‘Where We Are’ in 2014 that gave the platform for the Aussies to make a name for themselves. They soon became pals with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth and co-wrote a few songs with him. ‘She Looks So Perfect‘ was the lead single of the album and no doubt was one of the songs of 2014! The boys wrote the majority of the songs on the album, all bar two in fact, with ‘Amnesia’ wrote by the Madden Brothers and their cover of The Romantic’s ‘What I Like About You’.  With songs like ‘Don’t Stop‘, ‘Good Girls‘, ‘18‘ and ‘End Up Here‘ proving their little cheeky personalities in their song writing and showing they are more All Time Low than One Direction. But these four pretty boys have an emotional side too, and this is evident in their tunes like ‘Long Way Home‘, ‘Beside You‘ and ‘Everything I Didn’t Say’. While writing this blog, I asked my mum what my favourite 5 Seconds of Summer song was (thinking it would make it easier for me) but she had them same answer as I first came up with and that is that I actually like them all and can’t choose a favourite. Although, after two consecutive listens to the album, I came to the conclusion that my top five favorite songs are ‘End Up Here’, ‘Good Girls’, ‘Long Way Home’, ‘Heartbreak Girl’ and ‘Beside You’ (Can I just say I absolutely love every 5 Seconds of Summer song on this album? Because I do!!)

Image from 5SOS-official.tumblr.com

If there is one thing I love more than lots of 5 Seconds of Summer songs, it’s hearing 5 Seconds of Summer live and they answered all my dreams in December this year when they released ‘LIVESOS’. This is their first live album and contains 14 songs, including ‘Disconnected‘, ‘Out of My Limit‘ and their cover of Green Day’s ‘American Idiot‘.

So there you have it, my favourite album of 2014 belongs to 5 Seconds of Summer. In my eyes, 2014 belonged to those guys!

So, what was your favourite album of 2014? Comment below 🙂

My weekend at X Factor.

For my 21st birthday, my parents surprised me with a weekend away at Wembley in London, the home of Simon Cowell’s baby, The X Factor. Everyone knows how much of an X Factor addict I am and have been since 2005, from that embarrassing Shayne Ward crush, to that little obsession with Eoghan Quigg and  the obvious, the rollercoaster ride my boys One Direction caused me back in 2010, I’ve been through it all. So for my birthday, my Mum had applied for tickets to the actual shows but that is a long complicated story and basically I didn’t see the show. But who cares, I still had one awesome weekend!

Early on Friday morning (when I say early, I mean really early. It was 3:30 am when I left my house and my flight was at 7am!!), I flew from Dublin to London all excited for what the weekend had in store for me.

We arrived at Fountain Studios around 12pm (after my very blonde moment of not noticing where the studios were, even though I had passed them twice and there is a BIG sign saying fountain studios on the side off the building – insert monkey covering eyes emoji here!!) and this is when all the fun started! Surprisingly, there was only 7 of us outside the studios, I had imagine the place would be swarmed with crying 14 year olds. Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan seem to be missing the studios as they have been down there nearly every Friday for the past few weeks and that day it was no different. I saw Niall drive into the private entrance around 3pm and Louis followed soon after but I didn’t get to actually see them.

X Factor presenter since 2007, Dermot O’Leary turned up on his green motorbike full of conversation and excited about his interview later that night on The Late Late Show in Ireland. He was delighted I was from Ireland but said I was crazy for flying over just to meet everyone. Dermot, I flew over just to meet you darling. 😛

Time at Fountain Studios seems to go by so slowly. From 2pm until 6pm felt like 12 hours. I do not know how some girls do this every day, week or every year! I was wrecked after just 10 hours of standing there. But the best thing about the fangirl experience is the friends you make. When I arrived at the studios, I spoke with the few girls who were already there and we bonded very quickly over Stereo Kicks. Later that night, once we had found each other on Twitter, we discovered we had mutual friends in the fangirl world and it was a surprise we didn’t know each other before! Now it’s like we’ve known each other for years. Anyway, at around 6:15pm, the baby of Stereo Kicks, Charlie, left the studios first as he has a curfew! I did feel a bit strange asking a 14 year old for a selfie but he is so cute. By the way, since when do 14 year olds look SO much older. He could easily  pass for 17, although that could be the cougar in me trying to make myself feel better about my encounter with him.

3 out of the 4 members of Only The Young came out next. Since their first audition, I’ve had a little soft spot for Charlie and kind of only paid him attention. BUT when Mikey came out to meet everyone, he took my breathe away. Literally. I couldn’t formulate a sentence when he spoke to me. He was incredibly nice to me. He told us all not to get too cold, he could see me shivering (it was 2 degrees, I was expecting snow at any point!). I had told him I’d been there since 12 and I flew from Ireland and he loved that. He started taking the piss out of my accent and thanked me for making the effort to fly over to see them and support them. Genuine sweetheart ❤ Parisa and Betsy were also there, but they didn’t want to take selfies with me because they had just got there tan done for the show on Saturday and said they looked horrible – if they think they looked horrible, my god I’d hate to know what they thought of me. The looked so flawlessly beautiful, especially Betsy. I eventually convinced Parisa to take a picture with me but she covers half her face! Betsy spoke to me for a while though to make up for no picture and she said she loved my lipstick. I got shy then because she has an incredible beauty and fashion blog so I was thrilled with her comment.

Andrea was next to come out and he is such an adorable person. He is exactly how you’d expect him to be. Shy but so humble. He did struggle to understand my accent though..

Tom, Reece and Casey from Stereo Kicks were next to come out but were quickly called back by the security the other side of the studios. I was so upset!

I continued to wait outside the studios after all the contestants had left because Niall and Louis had yet to leave. The girls who I became friends with told me that they would stop for photos, as they have done the past few weeks. Once again, security inside the studios wouldn’t allow the boys to stop for photos but Louis stopped his car beside us to explain that the ‘security are being mean and wouldn’t let us stop! Sorry guys!’ If I had been thinking, I could of easily turned around and posed for a selfie as I was standing next to the car. But no, Sarah Jane  wasn’t thinking, like always in these situations!!!!

So at 10:30pm, my mum and I wandered to McDonald’s to try warm up and day one at X Factor was over.

I decided not to go to the studios until after the show on Saturday night, as I knew there was no way I would meet anyone before the show. As soon as Stereo Kicks finished performing, I ran down to the studios and even got to hear Andrea live as the doors were open (his voice is breathtaking!).

Barclay from Stereo Kicks was the first to come out and  I was the only one there! He was quite shy and very humble. He is a beautiful human being and my mum is still surprised as to how I managed to have a conversation with him without melting. His aftershave was one of the nicest things I’ve ever smelt and I would not mind smelling that every day.

Image belongs to me.

Barclay and me. Image belongs to me.

Betsy remembered me and stopped for a selfie this time and complemented my make-up and clothes once again. She is incredibly beautiful, when she handed back my phone and I looked at the selfies, I questioned why I even bothered because I look horrible beside someone so beautiful and she gave out to me for saying something so stupid. I have to say Only The Young are so good with their fans, they actually take interest in the fans and communicate with them at every possible chance. Other bands should be taking notes from OTY!

Image belongs to me.

Charlie was next out (he came out earlier but went to McDonalds with his Dad!) and he ran over to me! He was full of conversation, clearly still excited from the show and even flirted with me. He was explaining to us how hard it is to get tickets for his family to come to the show. He then asked me where I was from because my accent ‘wasn’t English’ and once again when I said Ireland, he said ‘Woaaah that’s dedication’ and asked me how long it took to get there. My mum told him it was a birthday present and he asked when my birthday was and I told him and he reminded me that it was the same day as Tom’s from Stereo Kicks. I asked him to follow me on Twitter and while he was doing that he continued to ask me questions but the best reaction came when he asked how old I was. When I said 21, he stopped looking at his phone and looked at me in shock but still continued to casually flirt with me. He took my phone and took a good few selfies with me and below are my favourite two! Gosh. WHY MUST HE BE 17??? Dear god, why do you do this to me!! 😦

Reece popped out next. He is such a cutie. I told him I loved his new hair do but asked what they had done to Chris’s hair (they shaved it all off!!!) and he told me the producers or whoever said that ‘they needed someone in the band with that hairstyle and Chris was the one that stood up and took one for the team’. Reece told me to tell Chris that I loved it because he was really upset and insecure about it. For a 16 year old, Reece was such a gentleman and so down to earth. He went and got all the other members of Stereo Kicks for me ❤

James. My interaction with him was very quick as they were being rushed by their minders/people. He is even more handsome in person and I don’t know how it was possible. Just look at his face. It was like it was carved my angels. He has the voice of an angel too.

TOM MANN NEXT! Sorry I got a bit excited there. I have loved and followed this guy since early 2013 when I stumbled across him on youtube. I have been dying to meet him and I even messaged him on Friday (he follows me on Twitter 😉  )  explaining that I was so upset that I didn’t get to meet him and he replied saying he was sorry and that he would try meet me on Saturday and HE DID!!! When he came over, all I could say was ‘Tom, I’m Sarah Jane from Ireland’ and he went ‘Yeeeeeah I know you, I’ve been messaging you, finally we meet!’ I wished him a Happy 21st Birthday and told him it was my birthday the same day and he wished me a happy birthday and asked how old I was and when I replied with 21, he was surprised and said ‘that’s crazy!’. He wanted to stay longer to chat but he was dragged away. Look at how beautiful he is and look how happy I am, my eyes are all sparkly from happiness.

Chris was the best out of everyone (apart from Tom, no one beats Tom!) . The only thing I could say was that I was Irish and sure Jaysus he was only delighted. He was so happy that he couldn’t even take a proper selfie with me. Look at it. HE HAD ONE JOB! But bless him, he just wanted to talk to me. He kept thanking me for flying over and all the support. I told him I loved his hair and his face lit up and my heart melted. He was so happy, I just wanted to hug him. Everyone was getting jealous at how long every member of Stereo Kicks were spending with me but he told them to leave me alone because ‘she’s Irish guys!!’

Lauren was next. She is so small and gorgeous. I wasn’t expecting her to be as nice as she was to be honest. She is so genuine and I just wanted to be best friends with her. I didn’t get to talk to her that much either.

Image belongs to me.

Lauren and me. Image belongs to me.

Jake Sims only took two selfies with fans that night. I was one of them. GO ME!! I didn’t get to talk to him at all but I doubt the conversation would of been very long because he is so hot, I was probably drooling. I said he was a ride but I doubt he knew what that meant, unless he asked Chris 😛

Image belongs to me.

Paul was the last out of the studios that night. He is such a nice guy and had a laugh with the fans that were there.

With that, day two at X Factor was over. I was happy. Very happy. Apart from the fact I didn’t get to meet all 8 boooyys (not a spelling mistake, it’s how they take the piss out of Louis!) from Stereo Kicks, Casey went out the front entrance 😦

Tania, one of the girls I became friends with, told me where everyone rehearses on Mondays. So I got up early and headed there. The first to arrive was Stevi and as much as I think he shouldn’t be in the competition, he is such a nice guy. He stood and spoke to everyone there for 10 minutes. My mum got a picture with him too and it’s hilarious they way he posed.

Lauren was next to arrive. She informed us that she was the last one going to arrived at the studios that day ( I COULD OF CRIED, WHY THAT MONDAY DID STEREO KICKS AND ONLY THE YOUNG NOT GO?!!!) She spent a long time talking to us and taking pictures with us. I can’t put into words how nice she is. She is so beautiful too. Her stomach is so flat and toned too. I look like a whale beside her.

Image belongs to me.

Lauren and me. Image belongs to me.

The best thing about that Monday at the studios had to be the fact I got papped with Lauren. It appeared on the DailyMail online. Typical me on my phone :P.

I’m famous now lads!

I actually feel sorry for celebrities when paps are concerned. There was 5 paps there that day and they took about 500 photos of her in about 15 minutes. It was 10am in the morning, on a normal Monday at 10am, I’m still in bed not looking one bit photogenic.

After that, I headed back to the airport, ecstatic with the wonderful weekend I had meeting my favourite people. It was back to the assignment that was due at 10am the next day for me that evening while all the X Factor contestants got to go to The Hunger Games Movie Premiere. I can not wait till I can do that instead of assignments.

2014 MTV VMA’s – All you need to know right here!

On Sunday 24th of August, MTV’s annual Video Music Awards took place in The Forum in California. The VMAs always has talking points for days and sometimes weeks after it (who can forget Miley Cyrus’ performance last year?!) and this year is no different. Well, on a much tamer scale.

Performances

Opening this year’s show was a medley, kicked off by Ariana Grande belting out her new song ‘Break Free‘ in a silver leotard, similar to the Glittering Gold one Beyonce wore during her I Am… Sasha Fierce tour in 2009.

Nicki Minaj took the stage next with a jungle themed performance of her new single ‘Anaconda‘ but had no snakes (unlike Britney back in 2001, but it was later said they had to scrap the snake idea due to an incident that happened in rehearsals with one of Nicki’s dancers and the snake!!) Nicki and her dancers did however showed Miley Cyrus how to really twerk!!

To finish the opening medley, Jessie J joined Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj onstage for the first ever performance of their joint single ‘Bang Bang’. While Jessie J and Ariana were smashing their incredible vocals, poor Nicki had a wardrobe malfunction!! The rapper walked on to stage while holding her black dress closed over her chest. and boy was she holding on for dear life! Nicki later said in a backstage interview what happened, which was that she ran out of time backstage when changing and failed to get the dress zipped up.

Taylor Swift performed her new single ‘Shake It Off‘ while wearing a sparkling silver bralet and shorts. Viewers got excited when she was standing on top of a massive “1989” sign and appeared as if she was about to jump off it and into her crowd of dancers awaiting arms, but she squirmed away and said “I don’t care if it’s the VMAs, I’m not jumping off there,” she said, disappearing while going down stairs saying  “All kinds of people getting bit by snakes, it’s dangerous!”, in reference to Nicki Minaj’s dancer!

Sam Smith made his American awards show debut with a flawless performance of his breakout ballad, ‘Stay With Me‘ simply singing into a microphone in the spotlight and just accompanied by a piano.

Usher launched his new single ‘She Came To Give It To You‘ which features Nicki Minaj. When Nicki joined Usher on stage, he repeatedly touched her bum with his shoulder while playing the electric guitar and then spanked her before she left the stage.

Next up was my boys, 5 Seconds of Summer! They sang their pop-rock ballad ‘Amnesia‘. They were literally incredible and have received nothing but compliments about their performance. Proud of you guys ❤

Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora showed their fierce sides when they teamed up to perform ‘Black Widow‘. They made sure the viewers knew that spiders were the main theme of the performance with a lit-up spider web behind them and the  dancers dressed in spider inspired outfits. Rita went one step further and had diamond shaped siders on her nails (I’M SHAKING AT EVEN THE THOUGHT – I HATE SPIDERS (but LOVE this song)!

Image from AP Images/Invision

Outside the venue, Maroon 5 performed their new hit single ‘Maps‘ to a large crowd of fans!

One of the main talking points of the night was Miley Cyrus’ guest, homeless man Jesse Helt. Miley got Jesse to go on stage and accept her award for Video Of The Year on her behalf and spoke about homeless youths and to highlight the issue. Miley looked on while crying. This shows that Miley should get more credit where credit is due. She’s not a bad person at all. She could of went up there and gave a meaningless few thanks to fans and her music label but she selflessly used that time to highlight an issue prominent in the USA.

And last, but certainly not least, was the performance of the night by the one and only QUEEN BEYONCE! While wearing a bejeweled bodysuit, Bey literally performed a snippet of her Mrs. Carter Tour! She sang 12 songs mashed together from her self titled album, Beyonce, which included Drunk In Love, Partition and the remix version of Flawless. After her very sexual performances, hubby Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy stepped up onto the stage with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to present it to Beyonce. Bring Beyonce to tears, Blue Ivy cheered ‘Go Mommy’ and the Jay presented her the award stating that she is ‘the greatest living entertainer’. Putting a stop to all those spilt and divorce rumours, they put on a united family front for the world to see!

My Best Dressed Females

Number 1 best dressed female is Beyonce! No surprises there! She looked incredible gracing the red carpet in a black lace fishtail dress. Because it’s Queen Bey, her second outfit also gets a mention. After her show stopping performance, she changed into a dark pink/burgundy dress by Lebanese designer, Zuhair Murad.

My number 2 best dressed girl goes to my idol, Demi Lovato! WOW. She simply looks perfect. Demi has definitely proven she’s body confident at last in her sexy, floor length red gown. She donned a new shorter hair do with a simple smokey eye and strong, sexy red lipstick.

My Number 3 goes to the Kardashian trio. 18 year old Kendall and 16 year old Kylie both wore black. Model Kendall chose a jumpsuit with a sheer mesh top while Kylie decided to wear a silk dress with a very-high-thigh slit. Older sister (yet the smallest sister!) wore no other than her favourite, Balmain, with her cleavage on clear display!

My Worst Dressed Females

Amber Rose. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! I can’t even begin to explain it. How was she let leave her house? The ‘dress’ is by Rose McGowen, just incase anyone wants to get themselves a replica (doubt it!)

Katy Perry, girl, you can do so much better, in both men and in fashion. Ditch Riff Raff and ditch the demin. Britney and Justin did this look over 13 years ago, it didn’t work then and it doesn’t work now.

Image from hollywoodlife.com

Taylor Swift, it breaks my heart to put you in the worst dressed section but for a girl who 90% of the time dresses ‘Oh so right‘ at award shows, you got it ‘Oh so wrong‘ this time! This outfit just does nothing for you. That’s it. I can not find anymore words to say about it. Just go back to your long sparkly gowns that everyone adores!

My Best Dressed Males

Nick Jonas is my number 1 best dressed male. Just look at him. He is looking FINE! Nick looked incredibly dapper in a navy check print jacket and waist coat by Vivienne Westwood.

Image from fashionbombdaily.com

Image from fashionbombdaily.com

My number two best dressed male is Sam Smith, who rocked the red carpet in a stunning three piece black suit.

My number 3 best dressed are 5 Seconds of Summer. The foursome donned their true punk rock style. They looked hot. So hot. Incredibly hot. Have I mentioned they look hot? Because the look SO HOT!! I think you get my idea. Also, Ashton’s blazer costs a whopping $1250. WHAT? This is the band that get their stylists to put holes in their t-shirts to make them look cooler. I hope they took that jacket and put it somewhere safe away from scissors.

17 reasons why you should watch the Commonwealth Games ladies!

So for all you people (especially ladies) who don’t know, The Commonwealth Games are currently on in Glasgow, Scotland and my god you’ve been missing out! The Commonwealth Games is an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations (basically, it’s the mini Olympics held every four years, 2 year after the Olympics!)

This blog post is mainly aimed at females and 17 reasons why you SHOULD be watching the games, and it’s not just for the sports! That’s right, I’m on about the beautiful men who are competing in many of the sports held at the Commonwealth Games! If you know me personally, you would know I love sport so I have no problem watching endless hours of the various sports. But I am also a girl and god I love when there is a hottie to watch! So here is my list of the 17 hottest guys in my eyes at the games 😉

Michael Conlon is 22 years old and is an Irish boxer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. Okay, I know you are thinking he doesn’t quite look like the rest of the guys further down the list but he’s cute, got charm and there is something about him that just makes you want to watch him! Also, He’s Irish so of course he makes my list!

You can watch Michael box on Wednesday the 30th of July.

16- Matthew Mitcham

Matthew Mitcham is 26 years old and is an Australian diver from Sydney.  Matthew originally competed as a trampoline gymnast but he was spotted by Wang Tong Xiang, who is a coach at the Australian Institute of Sport Diving (thank god he took up diving!). In his diving career, he has dived from all heights of the board from both springboard and platform, including 1m,3m, 5m, 7m, and 10m. In 2008, he came out and said he was gay, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy watching him 😉

You can watch Matthew dive on Saturday the 2nd of August from 10am.

15- David Boudia

David Boudia is 25 years old and is an American diver from Texas. He competes on the 10m platform in individual and synchro. His wife (yes, wife!) is a lucky lady!

I only discovered him this week while watching the swimming, I swear I wasn’t drooling when he got out of the pool.

I think his swimming is over but I’m not too sure. Be sure to check out the men’s swimming if it’s still on tv just incase he pops up!

13- Harry Owen

Harry Owen is 20 years old and is a Welsh Gymnast.  He competes in the team event for Wales and competes in all the individual events, including Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar.

You can watch Harry compete in the second part of the Team event on Tuesday 29th of July from 11am. You can see him compete individually on Thursday the 31st of July from 3pm.

12- Jack Rickards

You can watch James dive individually on Saturday the 2nd of August from 10am.

10- Kristian Thomas

Kristian Thomas is 25 years old and is a British Gymnast from Wolverhampton. He is a longstanding member of both the England and Great Britain men’s team. He competes in the team even for England and individually competes in the Horizontal bar.

9- Kristoffer Done

Heartbreakingly, I can’t find a picture of this beautiful man on the internet 😦 But trust me, he is very easy on the eye! So instead of leaving this place blank, I picked someone else to show off! Luke Carson!

Luke Carson is 24 years old and isan Northern Ireland Gymnast from Belfast. He competes in the team event for Northern Ireland and individually competes in the Men’s All Round, Pommel Horse and Parallel Bars.

Sam Oldham is 21 years old and is a British Gymnast. He competes in the team event for England and individually in the Horizontal Bar.

You can watch Sam compete in the second part of the Team event on Tuesday 29th of July from 11am.

Unfortunately today (Tuesday the 29th of July), Sam landed awkwardly on his left ankle after executing an incredible performance while competing in the Vault for the Team event and had to withdraw from the team. Louis took some time out from gymnastics after he won Sliver at the London 2012 Olympics and in September 2012, he took part in Strictly Come Dancing and ending up winning the show! He certainly has all the right moves 😉

You can watch Louis compete in the second part of the Team event on Tuesday 29th of July from 11am. You can see him compete individually on Thursday the 31st of July from 3pm.

1- Tom Daley

It was always obvious that Tom was going to be my number one. Everyone knows how much I adore this chap since I was like 14! Incase you are reading this and have no idea who Tom is (I am trying not to judge you but you must be living under rocks!!!) Tom Daley is 20 years old and is a British diver from Plymouth. He is one of the most well known divers in the world. He dives from the 10m platform individually and also does 10m platform synchro.  On 2 December 2013, Daley released a Youtube video announcing that he had been in a relationship with a man since early that year. He said in the video: “I still fancy girls, but at the moment I’ve never been happier”. As long as Tom is happy, I’m happy! I will support him no matter what! Plus, I still fancy him, even if he’s gay!

You can watch Tom in the Synchronised 10m Platform diving on Friday the 1st of August from 6pm. You can also see him dive individually on Saturday the 2nd of August from 10am.

Also, I noticed the other day while watching the swimming that 70% of the swimmers are beautiful and almost every gymnastic is gorgeous, maybe it’s just the muscles distracting me but you check them out and let me know!

Now, I hope you all regret not paying attention to the London 2012 Olympics now!! Well at least you can still catch some of these hotties on your tv screens via BBC’s coverage of the games over the next few days! Enjoy (There is no need to thank me!)

I’m off to pack my bag to fly over to Glasgow to see some of these gorgeous people (I actually am going, I’m not joking!)

Conor Maynard

Is the name Conor Maynard one you know? If not, GET TO KNOW IT! And if you do know him, I bet it’s mainly for his own songs such as Can’t Say No and R U Crazy. Personally, I believe Conor Maynard is going to be one of the biggest male artist’s to come out of England. Since 2009, Conor Maynard has been uploading cover versions of songs on his own and with rapper and close friend, Anthony “Anth” Melo, who resides in Virginia, America. Together they have covered a variety of songs, including: Taio Cruz’s Dynamite, Rihanna’s Only Girl In The World and even wrote an original song together called Do ItMaynard caught the attention of singer/songwriter Ne-Yo when he watched a cover version of his track Beautiful Monster who in turn contacted Conor soon afterwards, and Ne-Yo soon became Maynard’s mentor. Maynard rose to success in 2012 when he was nominated for, and subsequently won, MTV’s Brand New For 2012 award, beating off competition from the likes of Lana Del Ray. Well now it’s time you heard the real Conor Maynard. His covers are heaven to my ears! My god, he makes these songs sound so much better. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE his original work and adore his album. I am waiting patiently for his second album, due to drop sometime in 2014. But you can’t deny the fact that his voice in some of these covers is simply breathtaking.

Check out some of my favourite covers Conor has done below:

  • Mr.Probz -Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)
  • Drake – Girls Love Beyonce
  • Drake – Marvin’s Room
  • Ellie Goulding/ Miley Cyrus/ Drake Medley
  • Lorde/Avicii/One Direction Medley
  • Pharrell Williams – Happy
  • Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child
  • Enrique Iglesias – Tonight I’m Lovin’ You ft Anth
  • Jessie J – Price Tag
  • Chris Brown – Yeah x3
  • Taio Cruz – Dynamite
  • Bruno Mars – Just They Way You Are

Now, try tell me you don’t like Conor Maynard after listening to some of these. 😉

Met Gala 2014 – The Fashion!

On May 5th, the annual Met Gala took place in New York City. Now for all of you who have no idea what the Met Gala is (where have you been living?), don’t worry, I’ll explain everything!

The Met Gala, previously known as the Costume Institute Gala , is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. But it is really known as the biggest fashion event of the year. The event has been held at the Met since 1971 and is considered to be the ‘fashion industry’s premier annual red carpet event’ with all the big name celebrities attending the event yearly to kick off the fashion season with a bang!

Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour is the chair of the event and has been for over 19 years. Each year the event has a theme, and includes a cocktail hour and a formal dinner for all in attendance. But fashion comes at a price! It is rumoured that this year, each guest had to fork out €25,000 to attend.

Now I’ve got all the educational information out of the way, it’s now time to talk fashion!

This year’s theme was : White Tie and Diamonds. Simple, you would think. Many pulled the theme off perfectly. But many also got it very wrong. I’m not going to waste time talking about the fashion disasters that were Katie Holmes and Sandra Lee!!

My Top 9 Best Dressed Women for 2014

1. My best dressed lady of the night goes to the beautiful Blake Lively. She wore a dazzling pale pink Gucci dress.

The most essential accessory on the night for four of my best dressed ladies was their handsome and impeccably dressed man by their side.

With that, 2014’s Met Gala is over. The fashion has come and gone. Anxiously waiting for next year’s Gala already!

Rita Ora is back on the music scene and with a bang!

On the 31st of March, Leicester Square in London came to a hault. UK singer Rita Ora decided to do something a little different with the release of her new music.

It had been 2 years since the 23 year old released music and Rita is never one to do things on a small scale. She posted a picture on Instagram on Sunday requesting her fans, Ritabots, to assemble in Leicester Square in Central London at 9:30 am to celebrate the first play of her new single I Will Never Let You Down on radio on BBC’s Radio 1 with her.

20140401-134007.jpg

And her Ritabots didn’t let her down. They turned up in their hundreds. To let the whole of London know she was back in town, Rita’s team had hundreds of balloons ready for fans to release into the sky when Rita’s new tune went to air.

20140401-134019.jpg

20140401-134025.jpg

The most talked about thing of the day would have to be the choice of outfit Rita showed up in. Being one to never shy away from adventurous and daring clothing, Rita donned a unique SpongeBob SquarePants‘s jumper dress and matching heels. But like always, she pulled it off and looked incredibly hot!

20140401-134013.jpg

20140401-134030.jpg

The song I Will Never Let You Down will be the first single off her second album due out later this year. Her boyfriend Calvin Harris produced the song, and with Calvin’s credible history with duets with Rihanna and Ellie Goulding, it’s no doubt that this song will be a number 1 hit also.

The video for the song was also release on Monday and it is classic Rita Ora style.

Check out the video below, I’m sure you’ll be singing along to it in no time!

5 Seconds of Summer.

Before you all get carried away thinking I’m talking about Irish summers, I’m not. I am talking about my favourite band, 5 Seconds of Summer. Now I guess you are now asking ‘Who the hell are they?’

5 Seconds of Summer are an Australian (and 1/4 New Zealand because of Calum) band who have taken the music world by storm. The young band is made up of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood. It all started back in December 2011, when the boys started uploading home videos to Youtube and pleading to their small group of fans to ‘make them famous‘! They released their first Ep Unplugged in June 2012 and it went in at number 3 in the Australian iTunes chart but failed to chart in the official music chart. 5SOS soon became known worldwide as one of their fans just happened to be One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and he shared their single Gotta Get Out on twitter and the Youtube views on escalated quickly for the 5SOS boys . They released a second EP in December 2012 called Somewhere New and their success began to grow even bigger. Louis Tomlinson then managed to get the 5SOS boys to be 1D’s opening act on their Take Me Home tour in 2013.

Here is an acoustic version of their single Gotta Get Out, the song Louis shared on twitter.

The song that made them receive fans worldwide was Heartbreak Girl which features on their EP Somewhere New. To date, the video has over 9 million views on Youtube.

Now, before you start thinking ‘oh 5 Seconds of Summer must be a boyband if they toured with 1D!’ Nope, you’re wrong! Don’t make the mistake of  classing 5SOS as a boyband, they are a pop rock band. The Aussie boys have worked with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, James Bourne from Busted, McFly and Joel and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte.

On February 5th 2014, 5SOS released their latest single She Looks So Perfect worldwide on iTunes for pre-order and immediately, it went in at the number one spot in over 35 countries.

On Friday 28th of March, the boys reached the number 1 spot in Ireland’s official music charts.

On Saturday 29th of March, the boys received their first ever official number one in Australia.

On Sunday 30th of March, 5SOS were announced the official UK Number 1 single.

Today, the 1st of April, 5SOS released She Looks So Perfect in America and it went in at number one on the iTunes charts so I expect it to reach the number one spot in the official American charts soon.

For me, being a huge fan since June 2012, this success is so surreal! I can’t imagine how the boys themselves must feel.

One thing that is obvious, 5 Seconds of Summer are very grateful to their fans for making them so successful, thanking them daily on their twitter accounts. I’ve been lucky enough to meet the guys and they are genuinely nice guys and appreciated the fact I had travelled to see them live.
